NAGOYA -- A computer containing personal information on 945 customers of Aioi Insurance Co. and an affiliate has been stolen from a company car parked in Aichi Prefecture, officials at the non-life insurer said Wednesday.
Company officials said that there are no signs that the thief has used the customer information.
An employee of the Aioi Insurance Nagoya branch parked the car at a
parking lot near his home in Toyoyama on the night of Oct. 20, and
returned to the vehicle the following morning to find the computer gone.
The computer contained information on 945 customers, such as their
names, addresses, phone numbers, birth dates and details of their
contracts. Of them, 43 are customers of an affiliate, Aioi Life
Insurance Co.
In-house regulations mandate employees to carry their personal
computers provided by the company at all times. (Source: Mainichi
