What about encrypted containers? |

Are encrypted containers a solution?
Partially, an encrypted container or virtual drive encryption, like PGPdisk or SafeDisk, is a safe place to store and protect sensitive data. In fact, such a program is an additional option with our SecureNotebook service, but we propose to use this program to protect USB devices and/or CD/DVD's. The major drawback is that they do not protect the complete hard drive of the notebook.
Why do I have to protect the whole hard drive?
There are a couple of reasons to: Word and other Windows programs, store a copy of the edited document in a temporary file. Windows stores a large part of the internal memory in the page file. So even if you store your documents in a protected container, copies of the document still reside unprotected on your notebook. Secondly, one has to remember to store the document on a different place, as you probably do not store all your documents in a container as they typically are not large. Last but not least, who are you going to call when you cannot access the data in the container?
